Vision, Ethos and Values

Ambition  Aspiration  Excellence

The Trust’s vision has been distilled into three words: Ambition, Aspiration and Excellence.

Ambition

Our ambition is rooted in civic duty and civic leadership and is applied from preschool through to adult learning. We recognise the value of resources and assets across the Trust and continue to explore and develop these on behalf of our communities working within an ethical and socially-responsible framework.

And what does success look like?

The Trust and its schools act as beacons within their communities and achieve local and regional recognition for their work in civic leadership, both as individual organisations and as part of the JMAT family.

Aspiration

We have high aspirations for all learners - irrespective of starting point or context – and these expectations are embedded in our provision, our offer and its delivery.

And what does success look like?

The Trust and its schools minimise any divide and overcome barriers so that all JMAT learners make progress in line with the top 20% of schools resulting in quality choices and positive destinations, all of which will be above national averages.

Excellence

Excellence permeates all aspects of our work and we have embraced innovation, research and partnership working in order to advance education for public benefit and provide a path where others may follow.

And what does success look like?

JMAT schools pursue excellence in all aspects of school improvement working with a range of partners  and this is demonstrated through learner outcomes, quality of provision and delivery, professional development and training, breadth of collaboration and Ofsted judgements.

At Trust and school level, we will secure our vision by adopting the following principles

  • Providing the highest quality educational experiences and outcomes for young people, irrespective of starting points or circumstances so that all can aspire;

  • Providing a curricular and co-curriculuar offer that is based on “Knowledge for Learning”;

  • Fostering inquiring, knowledgeable, resilient and caring young people with the ability to contribute positively, safely and uniquely to the complex world in which they live;

  • Investing relentlessly in quality-first teaching and resources which encourage risk-taking and innovation for the benefit of learners;

  • Developing partnerships with local and national organisations for the benefit of all Trust schools and the communities they serve.
